School Record Falls at USATF New England Indoor Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Members of the Regis College men's and women's track and field teams participated in the USATF New England Indoor Championships Sunday at Harvard University.

The day started strong for the Pride as JJ Pedersen (Milford, Conn.) broke his school record in the 5000 meter run for the third time this season, beating his previous mark by just under 12 seconds with a time of 15:24.81.

Cole Anderson (Falmouth, Maine) finished fourth in the weight throw, closing out the event with a mark of 13.91 meters (45' 7.75"). Emily Fagundo (Dover, N.H.) participated in the long jump, ending with a jump of 4.72 meters (15' 6"), two-tenths of a meter away from her personal record.

Back on the track, freshman Olivia Juneau (Wakefield, Mass.) set a new personal best with a time of 10.06 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles, beating her previous record by .02 seconds. Nicholas Pastore (Norwood, Mass.) completed the 60 meter dash in 7.29 seconds, and Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) ran the 800 meter run in 2:32.92.

Members of the Pride track and field team will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 29, when they take part in the New England Division III Championships. The men's events will take place at Springfield College, and the women will travel to Middlebury College in Vermont.
