Men’s Track and Field Resumes Indoor Season

GORHAM, Maine – The Regis College men's track and field team started the bulk of its 2023-24 indoor season Saturday at the USM Open II, hosted by the University of Southern Maine at the Costello Field House.

Harry Grayson (Lowell, Mass.) finished third in the 55 meter hurdles finals with a time of 8.32 seconds after qualifying at 8.48 seconds. Aiden Charles (Lowell, Mass.) also qualified for the finals with a time of 8.90 seconds, finishing seventh in the finals with a time of 8.98 seconds.

Grayson also posted the best time among Regis competitors in the 200 meter dash at 24.28 seconds, while Charles finished fifth in the weight throw with a mark of 11.82 meters (38' 9.5"). Grayson and Charles also joined Justin Thuotte (Lebanon, Conn.) and Caleb Russo (Brookfield, N.H.) to finish fifth in the 4x400 meter relay with an overall time of 3:59.57.

Thuotte finished fourth in the high jump after clearing 1.73 meters (5' 8") as well as 14th overall in the 55 meter dash preliminaries with a time of 7.01 seconds. Also on the track, Zach Sigman (Buffalo, N.Y.) finished third in the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:23.77, and Chris Margiatto (Suffield, Conn.) placed sixth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 56.36 seconds.

Back in the field events, Brett Kiesel (Rocky Hill, Conn.) cleared 3.45 meters (11' 3.75") to finish sixth in the pole vault, plus he finished seventh in the shot put with a mark of 10.72 meters (35' 2") and 14th overall in the long jump with a mark of 5.69 meters (18' 8"), best among Regis participants. Bryan Abreu (Haverhill, Mass.) finished fifth in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 10.81 meters (35' 5.75").

As a team, Regis finished fifth among college programs with 24 total points. Host Southern Maine won the team competition with 135 points, followed by UMass Dartmouth with 113.5 points.

Regis College stays close to campus for its next competition, participating in the Reggie Poyau Invitational at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., next Saturday, Jan. 13.
