Pride Track and Field Open Indoor Season

BOSTON – Two school records fell and a third was nearly broken as the Regis College track and field team opened the 2023-24 indoor season at the Suffolk Relays Saturday at The TRACK at New Balance.

Aleyo Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) broke an 11-year-old record in the 300 meter dash by 1.75 seconds, finishing 11th overall and fifth among Division III competitors with a time of 43.50 seconds. In the first collegiate meet of her career, Amasa-Titus also finished 25th overall in the long jump with a mark of 4.70 meters (15' 5") and 35th overall in the 60 meter dash preliminaries in 8.44 seconds.

Amasa-Titus anchored the 4x200 meter relay that set the other school record during the day, joining Colleen Curran (Woburn, Mass.), Olivia Dench (Center Moriches, N.Y.), and Abby Kilbride (Peabody, Mass.) for an overall time of 1:53.57, over a half-second faster than the previous standard established over 15 years ago.

The men's 4x200 meter relay came close to its own school record as Harry Grayson (Lowell, Mass.), Aiden Charles (Lowell, Mass.), Manny Grant (Dorchester, Mass.), and Justin Thuotte (Lebanon, Conn.) posted an overall time of 1:35.93, 15/100ths of a second off the current school record set Jan. 17, 2015.

Thuotte finished fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.80 meters (42' 0"), 13th in the high jump after clearing 1.70 meters (5' 7"), and tied for 17th in the long jump at 6.07 meters (19' 11"). Grayson finished 14th in the 60 meter hurdles preliminaries with a time of 9.10 seconds and 25th overall in the long jump at 5.79 meters (19' 0").

On the women's side, Emily Aho (Pelham, N.H.) finished 14th overall in the triple jump with a mark of 8.99 meters (29' 6"), just ahead of Katie Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) in 16th place at 8.67 meters (28' 5.5"). Kelley also finished 24th in the 800 meter run in 2:58.92, just behind teammate Annabelle Jean-Philippe (Randolph, Mass.) in 23rd place in 2:56.69.

In the 5000 meter run, Libby Parker (Bow, N.H.) finished in 20th place with a time of 22:18.24, and Jonnie Charest (Methuen, Mass.) finished in 22nd place in 23:18.20. Elizabeth Stevenson (Scituate, Mass.) completed the 3000 meter run in 12:49.65, while Pilar Brown (Rockland, Mass.) led the Pride in the shot put with a mark of 9.17 meters (30' 1"), just ahead of Kristin Barrett (Plymouth, Mass.) at 8.98 meters (29' 5.5").

For the men, Zach Sigman (Buffalo, N.Y.) finished the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:37.36. In the 1000 meter run, Benjamin Happenny (Woonsocket, R.I.) finished in ninth place with a time of 2:53.64, followed by Chris Margiatto (Suffield, Conn.) in 11th place in 3:11.77 and Kederson Pierre (Everett, Mass.) in 12th place in 3:21.55.

The Regis College track and field team will return to competition in 2024, traveling to Gorham, Maine for the USM Open II hosted by the University of Southern Maine Saturday, Jan. 6, starting at 12 p.m.
