Another Regis Record Falls at Wesleyan Invitational

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – For the second straight week, the school record in the 4x400 meter relay was broken as the Regis College women's track and field team participated in the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational Saturday at the Bacon Field House.

The quartet of Olivia Dench (Center Moriches, N.Y.), Janet Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.), Colleen Curran (Woburn, Mass.), and Aleyo Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) combined for an overall time of 4:20.70, 4.5 seconds quicker than the previous standard established one week ago at Tufts. The relay team finished in second place behind only Division II University of New Haven.

The Amasa-Titus sisters finished 1-2 in the 400 meter dash, with Aleyo winning the event with a time of 1:02.82, followed by Janet in second place in 1:04.00. Aleyo Amasa-Titus also finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 10.11 meters (33' 2") and sixth overall in the 60 meter dash preliminaries with a time of 8.36 seconds.

Anastazia Copeland (West Hartford, Conn.) won the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 14.01 meters (45' 11.75"), over three-quarters of a meter further than her nearest competitor. It is also .21 meters more than her previous personal best established two weeks ago at Brandeis that qualified her for the New England Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Curran finished fifth in both the long jump with a personal season-best mark of 4.76 meters (15' 7.5") and the pole vault after clearing 1.95 meters (6' 4.75"), plus she finished ninth overall in the 60 meter hurdles preliminaries with a time of 10.65 seconds, also a personal season-best time. Dench finished sixth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.34 seconds, plus she posted a time of 8.61 seconds in the 60 meter dash.

Jonnie Charest (Methuen, Mass.) finished sixth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 12:50.98. Grace Micklon (Salem, N.H.) finished seventh in the high jump after clearing 1.32 meters (4' 4"), as did Katie Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) in the triple jump with a mark of 8.64 meters (28' 4.25").

The Regis College track and field team is finalizing its next competition, expected to take place next Saturday, Feb. 3.
