Women’s Track and Field Places Third at Regis Spring Classic

WESTON, Mass. - Thanks to several solid performances that scored points throughout the day, the Regis College women's track and field team finished third at the 2024 Regis Spring Classic held Monday, April 8, at Regis Stadium.

Samantha Perkins (Whitman, Mass.) won the javelin throw with a mark of 35.01 meters (114' 10"), good enough to qualify her for the New England Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Also in the javelin throw, Alayja Linton (Nashua, N.H.) posted a mark of 29.31 meters (96' 2"), and Janet Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) finished with a top mark of 27.60 meters (90' 7").

On the track, Erin Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) finished first in the 5000 meter run with a time of 21:38.45, followed by Jonnie Charest (Methuen, Mass.) in second place in 22:58.13. Kelley also finished fourth overall in the 1500 meter run in 5:14.56, with Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) placing third in both the 800 meter run in 2:42.88 and the 1500 meter run in 5:06.91.

Libby Parker (Bow, N.H.) led the way in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 13:25.66, followed by Elisa D'Sa (Bellmore, N.Y.) in 14:04.13. The 4x100 meter relay team of Olivia Dench (Center Moriches, N.Y.), Janet Amasa-Titus, Colleen Curran (Woburn, Mass.), and Aleyo Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) finished second in 51.43 seconds, crossing the finish line 1/100th of a second ahead of Worcester State.

Curran also finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 4.96 meters (16' 3.25") and sixth in the pole vault after clearing 2.28 meters (7' 5.75"). Aleyo Amasa-Titus led the Pride in both the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.63 seconds and the 200 meter dash in 28.02 seconds, with Dench close behind in the 100 meter dash at 13.86 seconds and Janet Amasa-Titus right behind her in the 200 meter dash in 28.09 seconds.

Emily Aho (Pelham, N.H.) finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 9.81 meters (32' 2.25") as well as ninth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 19.05 seconds. Grace Micklon (Salem, N.H.) finished sixth in the high jump after clearing 1.40 meters (4' 7"), Kristin Barrett (Plymouth, Mass.) placed sixth in the shot put at 9.62 meters (31' 6.75"), and Maddy Robertson (Athol, Mass.) finished seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 31.69 meters (104' 0").

As a team, the Pride collected 84 points to finish third, just one point behind second place Emmanuel College. Suffolk University cruised to the team title with 128 points.

The Regis College track and field team next heads to Northampton, Mass., for the Carla Coffey Invitational hosted by Smith College Friday and Saturday, April 12-13.
