Aleyo Amasa-Titus Breaks Indoor 200 Meter Dash School Record

BOSTON - After coming close on a couple occasions earlier this season, Aleyo Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) finally broke the school record in the 200 meter dash, highlighting participation by members of the Regis College women's track and field team at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University at the BU Track and Tennis Center.

Amasa-Titus won her heat of the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.37 seconds, 1.22 seconds faster than the previous record held for almost 16 full years by Christina Ewing when she ran 27.59 seconds Feb. 22, 2008. Amasa-Titus, now a qualifier for the New England Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, had previously come within 2/100ths of a second and 6/100ths of a second the previous times she competed in the event this season.

Also in the 200 meter dash, Colleen Curran (Woburn, Mass.) finished third in her heat with a time of 28.10 seconds, 1.2 seconds quicker than her previous season-best mark. Janet Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) placed fourth in her heat with a time of 28.37 seconds.

In the 400 meter dash, Abby Kilbride (Peabody, Mass.) finished third in her heat with a personal season-best time of 1:08.55.

The Regis College women's track and field team will return to the Boston University Track and Tennis Center Sunday, Feb. 18, for the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Pride women are the defending champions and will look to repeat their success from 2023.
