One Relay, Two Individual Titles Highlight Regis Women at GNACs

BOSTON - Aleyo Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) and Anastazia Copeland (West Hartford, Conn.) won individual events, and Amasa-Titus also anchored a relay victory as the Regis College women's track and field team finished third at the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

In a race where the top three finishers were separated by just 76/100ths of a second, Amasa-Titus ended up first in the 400 meter dash in 1:02.01, a personal season-best time. Janet Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) made the podium with a third place finish in 1:02.87.

The Amasa-Titus sisters were part of another extremely close finish in the 4x400 meter relay, as they teamed with Abby Kilbride (Peabody, Mass.) and Colleen Curran (Woburn, Mass.) to win the event by just 2/100ths of a second over Emmanuel with a time of 4:20.28, breaking the school record in the process. Aleyo Amasa-Titus also finished second in the 200 meter dash in 26.62 seconds, third in the 60 meter dash in 8.32 seconds, third in the long jump with a mark of 4.88 meters (16' 0.25"), and fourth in the triple jump at 10.04 meters (32' 11.25").

Copeland got on track in the weight throw starting with her third attempt, which would prove to be the winning mark of 13.92 meters (45' 8"), once again establishing a new personal-best mark. She also finished second among Regis competitors and ninth overall in the shot put with a mark of 9.05 meters (29' 8.25"), while Pilar Brown placed fifth at 9.55 meters (31' 4"), accomplished on her first attempt.

Also in the jumps, Emily Aho (Pelham, N.H.) finished fifth in the triple jump with a collegiate-best mark of 9.88 meters (32' 5") posted on her fifth attempt as well as seventh in the long jump at 4.53 meters (14' 10.5"), also a collegiate personal best. Grace Micklon (Salem, N.H.) tied her indoor school record by clearing 1.46 meters (4' 9.5") in the high jump, ending up fifth in the event.

Back on the track, Olivia Dench (Center Moriches, N.Y.) finished second in the 60 meter dash finals with a collegiate-best time of 8.25 seconds as well as third in the 200 meter dash in 27.49 seconds, also a personal collegiate-best mark. Elisa D'Sa (Bellmore, N.Y.), also a member of the Regis soccer team along with the Amasa-Titus sisters, Curran, and Dench, finished second in the 800 meter run in a collegiate-best time of 2:36.54.

Annabelle Jean-Philippe (Randolph, Mass.) finished third in the one mile run with a time of 5:57.53, and then she came back later in the meet and placed sixth in the 800 meter run in 2:43.49. After finishing fifth in the 5000 meter run in 21:29.79, Libby Parker (Bow, N.H.) advanced to the podium with a third place finish in the 3000 meter run in 12:10.75, almost 15 full seconds off her previous personal best established just over one month ago.

Jonnie Charest (Methuen, Mass.) also completed the 3000/5000 meter double, placing fourth in the 300 meter run in 12:36.59, 10 seconds quicker than her previous best time, and seventh in the 5000 meter run in 21:54.11, also a personal collegiate-best mark. Curran finished fourth in the 60 meter hurdles in 10.33 seconds.

As a team, the Regis women collected 117 points, nine points behind runner up Colby-Sawyer College with 126 points and 18.5 points behind GNAC champion Emmanuel with 135.5 points.

Those who qualified will compete at the New England Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships next Sunday and Monday, Feb. 25-26, at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston.
