Final Tuneup for Pride Track & Field Saturday at MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Regis College track and field team took part in one final tuneup before next weekend's conference championships, participating in the Sean Collier Invitational Saturday hosted by MIT.

Amid a strong field from all three NCAA divisions, the Pride's top individual placement came in the javelin throw as Samantha Perkins (Whitman, Mass.) finished sixth overall and fourth among Division III competitors at 32.56 meters (106' 10"). Colleen Curran (Woburn, Mass.) also earned a top 10 finish as she placed ninth overall (seventh among Division III runners) in the 400 meter hurdles with a personal season-best time of 1:11.76, with Elisa D'Sa (Bellmore, N.Y.) in 12th place overall in 1:14.16.

Anastazia Copeland (West Hartford, Conn.) finished 16th overall in the hammer throw with a season-best mark of 36.03 meters (118' 2"). Janet Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) finished 11th in the long jump with a mark of 4.35 meters (14' 3.25") and 14th in the javelin throw with a mark of 25.93 meters (85' 1").

On the track, Olivia Dench (Center Moriches, N.Y.) led the Pride in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.35 seconds. Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) finished 22nd overall in the 800 meter run in 2:30.67, and Erin Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) placed 19th overall in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:16.83.

The Regis men were led by Chris Margiatto (Suffield, Conn.) as he finished eighth in the 400 meter hurdles with a personal collegiate-best time of 59.87 seconds, completing the event in less than one minute for the first time in his career. Riley Stogsdill (San Diego, Calif.) finished 15th overall in the 400 meter dash in 53.87 seconds, with Kederson Pierre (Everett, Mass.) ending up in 19th place with a time of 55.20 seconds.

In the throws, Liam Austin (Boston, Mass.) finished 11th overall in the javelin throw with a personal-best mark of 41.22 meters (135' 3"). Aiden Charles (Lowell, Mass.) led the Pride in two events, finishing 17th in the hammer throw with a mark of 36.33 meters (119' 2") and 20th in the discus throw at 31.37 meters (102' 11").

Ryan Sweeney (Lynn, Mass.) improved upon his personal-best mark in the shot put again, posting a throw of 11.56 meters (37' 11.25") to finish 18th overall. Benjamin Happenny (Woonsocket, R.I.) also earned a personal-best time in the 800 meter run at 2:02.28.

Regis College is the site of the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The action is scheduled to begin Saturday, April 27, at 2 p.m. with throwing events, followed by the start of track events at 4:30 p.m.
