Amasa-Titus, Charest Receive GNAC Indoor Track & Field Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. - Aleyo Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) was recognized by the track and field coaches within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) as she was named GNAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Rookie of the Year, and Jonnie Charest (Methuen, Mass.) was selected to the GNAC Women's Indoor Track and Field All-Sportsmanship Team, as the conference office announced its major awards Thursday, March 14.

Amasa-Titus set two individual school records and was part of two relay records as well. She broke the school records in the 300 meter dash at 43.50 seconds Dec. 2 and the 200 meter dash at 26.31 seconds Feb. 25. She was also part of new school record times of 1:52.67 in the 4x200 meter relay established Jan. 20 and 4:09.69 in the 4x400 meter relay set during the New England Indoor Championships Feb. 25.

At the GNAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, Amasa-Titus won the GNAC titles in the 400 meter dash in 1:02.01 and as part of the 4x400 meter relay quartet with a total time of 4:20.38. She also finished second in the 200 meter dash in 26.62 seconds, third in both the 60 meter dash at 8.32 seconds and the long jump with a mark of 4.88 meters (16' 0.25"), and fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.04 meters (32' 11.25").

Charest showed continual improvement throughout the indoor season, culminating at the GNAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in collegiate-best times of 12:36.59 in the 3000 meter run to finish fourth and 21:54.11 in the 5000 meter run to cross the finish line seventh. From the beginning of the indoor season, she cut almost a full minute-and-a-half off her 5000 meter time and over 14 seconds off her 3000 meter time.

In addition, the conference coaches voted Regis the recipient of the GNAC Institutional Sportsmanship Award for women's indoor track and field. The Pride finished third at the 2024 GNAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The outdoor track and field season begins Saturday, March 23, as Regis competes at the BSU Bears Invitational hosted by Bridgewater State. The Pride will host the annual Regis Spring Classic Friday, April 5, as well as the GNAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28, the third time Regis has hosted the event since joining the league in 2017-18.
