Repeat Weekly GNAC Honors for Copeland, Amasa-Titus

WINTHROP, Mass. – For the third time within the last four weeks, Anastazia Copeland (West Hartford, Conn.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Field Athlete of the Week, and Aleyo Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) has been named the GNAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season, as announced Monday, Jan. 29, by the league office.

Copeland won the weight throw at the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational Saturday with a personal-best mark of 14.01 meters (45' 11.75"), over three-quarters of a meter further than her nearest competitor. It is also .21 meters more than her previous personal best established two weeks ago at Brandeis that qualified her for the New England Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Amasa-Titus won the 400 meter dash Saturday at Wesleyan with a time of 1:02.82, plus she finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 10.11 meters (33' 2") and sixth overall in the 60 meter dash preliminaries with a time of 8.36 seconds. Amasa-Titus capped off the meet by anchoring the 4x400 meter relay, teaming with Olivia Dench (Center Moriches, N.Y.), Janet Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.), and Colleen Curran (Woburn, Mass.) for a school-record time of 4:20.70, 4.5 seconds faster than the previous standard established one week ago.

With the GNAC Indoor Track and Field Championships just three weeks away, Copeland sits in first place on the conference's performance list in the weight throw, while Aleyo Amasa-Titus is first in the 200 meter dash and second in the 60 meter dash, the 400 meter dash, the long jump, and the triple jump.

Curran is slated to compete in the indoor pentathlon at the Tufts Cupid Challenge and Multi-Events Meet Friday, Feb. 2, starting at 4 p.m.
