Aleyo Amasa-Titus, Anastazia Copeland Collect GNAC Weekly Awards

WINTHROP, Mass. - After posting podium finishes Saturday at the USM Open II hosted by the University of Southern Maine, Aleyo Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) has been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Female Track Athlete of the Week and GNAC Rookie of the Week, and Anastazia Copeland (West Hartford, Conn.) has received GNAC Female Field Athlete of the Week, announced Monday, Jan. 8, by the league office.

Amasa-Titus won one event, helped a Regis relay to victory, and finished second in another event Saturday. She won the 200 meter dash after posting a time of 27.61 seconds, just 2/100ths of a second off the school record that has stood since February 2008. She also led off the Pride 4x400 meter relay that defeated Southern New Hampshire University with an overall time of 4:42.57.

Amasa-Titus also finished second in the long jump with a mark of 4.86 meters (15' 11.5"), 0.16 meters further than her effort one month ago. This is the second time she has been named GNAC Rookie of the Week, previously receiving the honor Dec. 4, 2023, after setting school records in the 300 meter dash and the 4x200 meter relay.

Copeland finished second in the weight throw at the USM Open II Saturday. On her fifth attempt, she posted a mark of 12.59 meters (41' 3.75") to score eight points for the Pride women. Copeland, the 2023 GNAC champion in the weight throw, is now second on the 2024 GNAC performance list in the event, just over one inch behind the leader.

The Regis College track and field team makes the short trip to Brandeis University for the Reggie Poyau Invitational Saturday, Jan. 13.
