Women’s Track and Field Hosts Regis Spring Classic

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's track and field team submitted several top performances as it hosted the Regis Spring Classic Thursday at Regis Stadium.

Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) finished first in two events, winning the 1500 meter run by over 11 seconds in 4:59.21 and the 5000 meter run by over one minute with a time of 18:58.88. Libby Parker (Bow, N.H.) finished third in the 5000 meter run in 21:49.32, while Erin Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) placed fourth in the 1500 meter run in 5:17.22.

Pilar Brown (Rockland, Mass.) topped the standings in the shot put with a mark of 9.87 meters (32' 4.75"), followed by Allie Sanidas (Ipswich, Mass.) in third place at 9.32 meters (30' 7"). Anastazia Copeland (West Hartford, Conn.) won the hammer throw with a top mark of 36.80 meters (120' 9"), with Maddy Robertson (Athol, Mass.) ending up in third place at 33.72 meters (110' 7") and Tori Bradley (Dracut, Mass.) finishing fifth at 33.06 meters (108' 5").

Mikayla Francois (Walpole, Mass.) produced several top-six performances, highlighted by a third place finish in the 100 meter dash in 13.68 seconds. She also finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 4.37 meters (14' 4"), fifth in the 100 meter hurdles in 17.47 seconds, and sixth in the high jump after clearing 1.35 meters (4' 5").

Elisa D'Sa (Bellmore, N.Y.) crossed the finish line in third place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:14.60. Olivia Dench (Center Moriches, N.Y.), like D'Sa a member of the Regis soccer team in the fall, was the top Pride finisher in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.83 seconds, followed by Abby Kilbride (Peabody, Mass.) at 29.22 seconds and Lily Belschner (Revere, Mass.) at 29.38 seconds.

As a team, Regis finished third in the standings with 101 points, behind Brandeis at 181 points and Emmanuel with 107 points.

Select members of the Regis track and field team will compete at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College next Friday, April 14. The team will also participate at the Carla Coffey Invitational hosted by Smith College next Saturday, April 15.
