School Record Falls in Final Regular Season Meet

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – One school record was broken as the Regis College women's track and field team wrapped up the 2020 indoor regular season at the Panther Invitational Saturday, hosted by Plymouth State University at the Davis Track.

Sophomore Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) set a new school record in the one mile run, finishing fourth in the event with a time of 5:29.49. Kelley's time was 3.59 seconds faster than the previous standard established by Molly Curtin almost four full years ago.

Emily Fagundo (Dover, N.H.) enjoyed a strong meet in her home state with two indoor personal best marks. She won her heat and finished seventh overall in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.42 seconds, plus she also finished seventh in the long jump with a top leap of 4.65 meters (15' 3.25"), achieved on her second jump of the finals (fifth jump overall).

Olivia Juneau (Wakefield, Mass.) qualified for the finals of the 60 meter hurdles with a preliminary time of 10.25 seconds, over 3/10ths of a second quicker than her previous personal best. She then finished fourth in the final at 10.38 seconds, plus she ended up 21st in the 60 meter dash preliminaries with a time of 8.86 seconds.

Elsewhere on the track, Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) finished seventh in the 800 meter run in 2:33.75, Desiree Jones (Oceanside, Calif.) finished ninth in the 600 meter dash with a season-best time of 1:55.52, and Erin Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) finished 11th overall in the 3000 meter run in 12:07.14. Erin Sheehan (Pembroke, Mass.) won her heat of the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.93 seconds, finishing 13th overall, plus she ended up 16th in the 60 meter dash preliminaries at 8.73 seconds.

Boucias led off the 4x400 meter relay for the Pride, joining with Ashleigh Kelley, Katie Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.), and Hannah Morine (Tyngsboro, Mass.) for a time of 4:58.88, finishing sixth in the event.

Elisabeth Cooke (East Longmeadow, Mass.) once again led the Pride in the throwing events, finishing seventh in the shot put with a top throw of 10.40 meters (34' 1.5") and ninth in the weight throw with a top mark of 11.54 meters (37' 10.5").

As a team, the Pride finished in ninth place with 21 total points. Division II school Southern New Hampshire won the team competition with 117.5 points, just ahead of Bridgewater State's 109 points.

The Regis College track and field team heads to Boston University's Track and Tennis Center for the inaugural Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships next Sunday, Feb. 16, starting at 11 a.m.
