Runner Qualifies for New England Championships at Tufts

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Regis College women's indoor track and field team saw one of their members qualify for the New England Regional Championships Saturday at Tufts.

Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) qualified for New Englands in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:11.56, edging out the qualifying time by 0.44.

Emily Fagundo (Dover, N.H.) set a new personal record in the 60 meter dash, posting a mark of 8.42 seconds. In the 200 meter dash, Olivia Juneau (Wakefield, Mass.) set a new personal best by completing the race in 28.87 seconds.

In the 4x400 meter relay, the team of Juneau, Erin Sheehan (Pembroke, Mass.), Desiree Jones (Oceanside, Calif.), and Fagundo set a season-best time of 4:30.56 for the Pride.

In the shot put, Elisabeth Cooke (East Longmeadow, Mass.) led the Pride with a throw of 10.12 meters, while her teammate Allie Sanidas (Ipswich, Mass.) set a new personal record with a distance of 9.80 meters. Cooke also participated in the weight throw, finishing with a distance of 10.96 meters.

The Pride will return to competition next weekend on Saturday, Feb. 8, at Plymouth State's Panther Invitational before the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships.
