Indoor Season Continues at Grinaker Invite

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. ­– The Regis College women's track and field team continued its indoor season Saturday at the Mary Grinaker Invitational, hosted by Smith College.

The distance runners produced some of the best performances of the day, including Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) in the one mile run, as she finished ninth overall. Her time of 5:34.12 was only 1.04 seconds off the school record established four years ago.

After finishing 16th in the one mile run with a time of 5:46.13, Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) finished in eighth place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:31.75. Kelley ended up in 20th place overall in 2:42.89, followed by Desiree Jones (Oceanside, Calif.) in 26th place in 2:45.29.

In the 3000 meter run, Erin Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) also crossed the finish line in eighth place, completing the event in 11:58.29.

Elisabeth Cooke (East Longmeadow, Mass.) led the Pride in the shot put with a 10th place finish after a top mark of 10.15 meters (33' 3.75"). Allie Sanidas (Ipswich, Mass.) produced a personal best mark of 9.40 meters (30' 10.25") to finish in a tie for 17th place, and Sofia Puccio (Wilmington, Mass.) also enjoyed a personal best performance of 8.19 meters (26' 10.5").

In her first collegiate competition, Olivia Juneau (Wakefield, Mass.) finished 12th in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 11.03 seconds and 22nd overall in the 200 meter dash in 29.24 seconds. Erin Sheehan (Pembroke, Mass.) finished 14th overall in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:08.29, plus she posted a time of 8.76 seconds in the 60 meter dash preliminaries.

Regis College continues the indoor track and field season next Saturday, Jan. 25, heading west again for the Massasoit Classic, hosted by Springfield College.
