Elisabeth Cooke Named GNAC Female Field Athlete of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – Regis College senior thrower Elisabeth Cooke (East Longmeadow, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Female Field Athlete of the Week within the sport of track and field after her performance Saturday, announced Monday afternoon by the league office.

Cooke posted two top-10 finishes Saturday at the Massasoit Classic hosted by Springfield College. She finished in ninth place in both the weight throw with a season-best mark of 11.59 meters (38' 0.25") and the shot put at 10.05 meters (32' 11.75").

It is the second time this season Cooke has finished in the top 10 in both the shot put and the weight throw. Two weeks ago at Brandeis' Reggie Poyau Invitational, she finished sixth in the shot put and eighth in the weight throw.

The Regis College track and field team heads to Tufts University Saturday, Feb. 1, for the Branwen Smith-King Invitational at the Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center beginning at 10 a.m.
