INDOOR TRACK TEAM STUNNING AT TERRIER INVITE

Entering into their peak physical condition, the Indoor Track & Field competed at the Boston University Terrier Invitational this weekend. The team has looked posed to finish the last few weeks of the season in fantastic fashion, and they didn't disappoint.

Tremendous Personal Bests, and a Few Records in the Process
Split into a two-day meet, the men's and women's teams competed separately. Highlights from the women's meet included co-captain Anyah Hernandez (Brookline, Mass.) just missing the school record in the 60-meter dash (8.78s), speeding to a personal best mark of 8.89s. With two meets left in the season, the junior has a chance to re-write the record set earlier this year. Also having a stellar meet was sophomore Sarah Schow (Northborough, Mass.), a 3k/5k runner stepping down to the mile for some speed work. Her foray into the shorter distance yielded a new personal best by seven seconds.

On Saturday, the men's squad followed suit, boasting a number of monumental performances. Freshman Chandler Davies (Hartford, Conn.) continues to stalk the school record in the 60-meter dash (7.58s), this time running one, one-hundredth of a second behind the current mark, posting a 7.59s performance. Davies doubled-back shortly thereafter in the 400-meter dash, speeding to a new personal best and barely missing the Division III New England Championship qualifying standard of 51.70s. Breaking the 52s barrier, his 51.94s race ranks 2nd in school history, resting behind the school's top mark of 51.33s currently held by teammate Jeremy Israel (Medfield, Mass.). Israel, also the school record holder and an ECAC qualifier in the 500-meter dash, competed in the longer event, posting an equally respectable 67.29s.

The men's freshman class continued to thrive as fellow sprinter Ryan Manning (Hanover, Mass.) eclipsed his previous personal best by over a second, running a 52.39s in the quarter-mile. Manning's best of 53.70s had been run one week prior at the GBTC Invitational. Meanwhile thrower Paul Gionfriddo (Burlington, Conn.) continued to boost up his school record in the shot put; his toss of 11.90meters with the 16lbs implement was his first time over the 39' barrier. The final record-setting performance of the day came from rookie Owen McQuaid (Marlborough, Mass.), who took a page from his distance teammate Schow by dropping down to the mile from his usual 3k/5k races; shaving three seconds off of his school record.

The Pride's next meet with be at the Tufts Invitational on February 3rd.
