RAPSIS AND HEATHMAN LEAD PRIDE AT WESLYAN INVITATIONAL

Weston, Mass.—The Regis College men’s and women’s track teams competed this past weekend at the Wesleyan Invitational. The Pride competed in their second meet since returning from break. With this at hand the Pride continued to rack up seasonal bests and broke personal and school records.

Freshman vaulter Tori Rapsis (Nashua, N.H./Nashua) posted another solid performance by tying the school record and personal best of 9’ 6 ¼”. With this strong performance, Rapsis has qualified for the Division III New England Indoor Track and Field Championships. Freshman sprinter Adam Heathman (Oxbow, Vt./Oxbow) set the school record in the 400-meter dash. Heathman rewrote the record with a time of 53.01s. Later in the meet he would have another close call at setting the 200-meter dash record as well, posting a 23.68s performance.

 In the women sprinters and middle-distance runner events. Sophomore Ana Baker (Hartford, Conn./Hartford) sped to her second fastest performance in the 55-meter dash. Katherine Warner (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) also had a strong performance in the in the 200-meter dash. Later in the day both athletes competed in over-distance training by racing in the 400-meter dash.  Both athletes had been prepping for a potential New England Qualifying 4x400 relay berth.  

Senior Kate Haslam (Atkinson, N.H/Timberlane) improved on her 600-meter run by two seconds. Freshman Sarah Schow (Northborough, Mass./Northborough) ran a consistent race in the women’s 3k. Sophomore Jovita Nassolo (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) sped to a new best in the 55-meter dash.

The Pride will travel to the Boston University Terrier Invitational this Friday (Jan. 28) and Saturday (Jan. 29).
