2013 Regis College Men's Volleyball News

The Regis College men's volleyball team has earned the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Team Sportsmanship Award, it was announced by the conference's offices on Monday.

Regis College dropped its final two games of the 2013 season at Southern Vermont College on Sunday afternoon in Bennington, Vt. The Pride fell to the Mountaineers 3-0 (25-10, 25-9, 25-15) and followed that up with a 3-0 loss to Keuka College (25-8, 25-7, 25-10).

Regis College participated in the MIT Scramble men’s volleyball tournament this past weekend in Cambridge, Mass. The Pride faced three of the top-15 teams in the nation, including No. 1 Springfield College.

Endicott College showed just why they lead the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's volleyball standings, posting a 3-0 win over Regis College (25-11, 25-9, 25-11) on Thursday evening.

Backed by Jake Powell (Salinas, Calif.) and Tyler Sayne (Tucson, Ariz.), who combined for 27 kills, Newbury College defeated Regis College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's volleyball action, 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, 25-13) on Wednesday evening.

The Pride (2-10, 2-6 NECC) used set scores of 25-19, 25-21, and 25-14 en route to their second win of the season. Lesley falls to 0-14 overall and 0-8 in league games.

Behind 10 kills from Jeff Vautrin (Chicopee, Mass.), Elms College defeated Regis College, 3-0, by set scores of 25-15, 25-13, 25-8 Monday night in New England Collegiate Conference men’s volleyball action. The Pride fall to 1-10 overall and 1-6 in the NECC, while Elms moves its record to .500 at 12-12 overall and 5-4 in league games.

Behind Chin Yin Li's (Framingham, Mass.) 10 kills, three digs, two service aces, and one block, Newbury College defeated Regis College, 3-0 (25-8, 25-11, 25-14) on Friday evening in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's volleyball action.

Albertus Magnus College used set scores of 25-12, 25-14, and 25-19 to defeat Regis College on Wednesday night in non-conference men’s volleyball action in Weston, Mass. The Pride fall to 1-8 overall on the year, while the Falcons move back to .500 at 8-8 in 2013.

Elms College senior outside hitter Stephen Cameron (Newington, Conn.) and freshman outside hitter Jeff Vautrin (Chicopee, Mass.) each downed a match-high seven kills to help the Blazers to a 3-0 (25-10, 25-6, 25-15) sweep of Regis College in Saturday afternoon's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's volleyball match at Picknelly Arena.

Daniel Webster College fought off a late Regis College rally in the third set to hang on for a 3-0 victory over the Pride on Wednesday night in New England Collegiate Conference men’s volleyball action. The Eagles (8-5, 4-0 NECC) used set scores of 25-10, 25-15, 25-23 to upend the Pride (1-6, 1-3 NECC).

Regis College freshman volleyball player Joe Coye (Plaistow, N.H.) has been named this week’s New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league offices on Monday morning. Coye helped lead the Pride to a 1-1 mark last week, including the Pride’s first win of the 2013 season.

The Regis College men’s volleyball team hosted Mount Ida College and Southern Vermont College in a tri-match on Saturday afternoon in Weston, Mass. The Pride (0-4, 0-2 NECC) dropped the day’s opening match, 3-1, to Mount Ida (4-6), 25-15, 25-17, 20-25, 25-22) and fell to SVC, 3-0, by set scores of 25-6, 25-13, 25-9 in a New England Collegiate Conference matchup to end the day.
