CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Regis College participated in the MIT Scramble men's volleyball tournament this past weekend in Cambridge, Mass. The Pride faced three of the top-15 teams in the nation, including No. 1 Springfield College.

The Pride opened the weekend with a matchup against the host #13 MIT. Regis fell 3-0 by set scores of 25-13, 25-12, 25-12. Dave Amicangioli (Belmont, Mass.) and Joe Coye (Plaistow, N.H.) posted four kills apiece to lead the Pride, while Dan Berdichevsky (Wayland, Mass.) led the Pride with 11 digs. Cpye also added a pair of blocks, while Angel Aguilar (Silver Springs, Md.) handed out seven assists.

In game two of the night, the Pride faced #14 Elmira College, dropping the 3-0 decision by set scores of 25-7, 25-8, and 25-12. Coye, Berdichevsky, and Claude Jean (Rindge, N.H.) had two kills apiece, with Coye adding a pair of service aces in the setback. Chris Tran (Quincy, Mass.) led the Pride defense with seven digs and Dave Amicangioli added five of his own.

The Pride faced off with Bard College to open Saturday's action and the Raptors edged Regis by scores of 25-20, 25-20, 25-12. Amicangioli, Tran, and Alex Caliendo recorded three kills apiece, while Joe Coye added five kills and nine digs. Claude Jean had four kills to go with a block, and Angel Aguilar handed out 13 assists.

In the final match of the weekend, Regis matched up with the No. 1 team in the country, Springfield College. The Pride defeated Regis 25-8, 25-8, 25-10 as Joe Coye had another strong game with six kills. Claude Jean added two of his own, while Chris Tran and Chris Ibasco (Hopkinton, Mass.) led the Pride defense with three digs apiece.

Regis wraps up its 2013 season on Sunday afternoon with a tri-match at Southern Vermont College where Regis will take on the Mountaineers at 12:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. game versus Keuka College.
