OWENS BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD AT DIII NEW ENGLAND'S

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore Matt Owens (Boston, Mass.) highlighted the day's performances for Regis College at the New England Division III Track & Field Championships at Springfield College on Saturday. Owens broke the school record in the 200m with a time of 22.62, which was good for a 12th place finish in New England.

Owens also took home a 10th place finish in the 100m dash after cruising to a time of 11.04. 

Classmate Ray Grasso (Orange, Mass.) also participated in two events at the Championships, including the triple jump and the 400m hurdles. Grasso jumped a distance of 12.71m (11th place) in the triple jump and raced the hurdles in 59.20.

Junior Jeremy Israel (Boston, Mass.) also competed for the Pride. He completed the 400m hurdles in 51.77.

Owens will represent the Crimson & Gold at the All-New England Championships this Saturday, May 10 at Westfield State. Events begin at 10 a.m.
