TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES RECOGNIZED AT AWARDS NIGHT

WESTON, Mass. - At the annual Regis College Athletic Awards Banquet, several Track and Field Athletes received recognition for their efforts in the 2011-12 seasons.

Freshman Jeremy Israel (Medfield, Mass.) received the Male Athlete of the Year (First-Year Student). Israel holds the school record in the indoor 400-meters (50.61s), 500-meters (65.40s), outdoor 400-meters (50.97s), is the co-record holder in the men's 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 meter relays, and currently possesses the second fastest time in the 200-meter dash by any Regis College athlete (23.23s).

He qualified for both the Indoor and Outdoor Division III New England Track & Field Championships in individual events (placing 11th in the 400 for indoors); as well as the Indoor Division III ECAC Championships in which he won the bronze medal in the 500-meters. He will be competing at the Outdoor DIII New England Championship this Saturday in both the open 400-meters and 4x100-meter relay.

The Women's Team was also a recipient at the Athletic Banquet. The women won the SAAC Pride Cup competition, a prize they also achieved in 2009. The women out-distanced their closest competing team by more than 200 points.
