PRIDE PLACES WELL AT BROWN INVITATIONAL

Weston, Mass.—The Regis College Outdoor Track and  Field Team completed its 2011 outdoor regular season at the Brown Invitational  this past Sunday (Apr.30). The squad finished strong, notching up some school and personal bests.

The Pride’s track athletes were finishing off the season with their best event marks. In the 100-meter dash, sophomoe Ana Baker (Hartford, Conn./Hartford) and freshman Adam Heathman (Oxbow, Vt./Oxbow)  set both a personal best and season best. Baker inched even further down 13s territory with a 13.91s performance. Heathman posted an 11.57s performance, making it the new official school record, breaking the 11.67s mark he set a few weeks ago.

In the 3000-meter run, freshman Sarah Schow (Southborough, Mass./Southborough) continued her streak of break-through performances. She dropped almost 20s from her previous best time of 13:01minutes. Her new best was recorded with a time of  12:42.55minutes.

Other personal bests were set by senior Yash Shah (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) in the 100-meters. Jovita Nassolo (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) in the 100-m. Katherine Warner (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) in the 200-m. Kate Haslam (Atkinson, NH/Timberlane) ran her season best in the 800-meter run.

The Pride will take a contingent of 6 qualifiers to the NCAA Division III New England Outdoor Championship to MIT on Saturday (May 7). Individual qualifiers include Heathman in the 200 and Tori Rapsis (Nashua N.H./Nashua North) in the pole vault. The Pride will also compete in the 4 x 400 meter relay. The squad of Haslam, Baker, Warner, and Schow will look to compete at a high level for the Pride.
