  • MICHAEL BELUCH NAMED NECC PLAYER AND ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

    Freshman Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference’s Player of the Year, while also being named the league’s Rookie of the Year, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the NECC offices. Beluch led the Pride to a 13-7 overall mark this season and an appearance in the NECC Championship game, where the Pride fell to top-seeded Mitchell College, 7-2, this past Saturday.

    The top-seeded Mitchell College men’s tennis team claimed its fourth consecutive NECC title on Saturday behind a 7-2 victory over second-seeded Regis College in the finals of the 2012 New England Collegiate Conference Men’s Tennis Championship.

    The Regis College men’s tennis team defeated Lesley University, 8-1, on Wednesday afternoon in the New England Collegiate Conference Semifinals. Regis improves to 13-6 and has won eight-straight matches, while Lesley wraps up its season at 6-7 overall. The Pride advance to their first NECC Championship game and take on top-seeded Mitchell College on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.

    Regis College men’s tennis player Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) has been named this week’s New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week. This marks the third time this season Beluch has been garnered this honor, while making it two weeks in a row the freshman has been named the conference’s top rookie.

    Regis College has earned the second seed in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference men’s tennis tournament, it was announced by the conference offices yesterday. The Pride (12-6, 9-1 NECC) will host Lesley University (6-6, 5-5 NECC) on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

    The Regis College men’s tennis team made it seven-straight wins in New England Collegiate Conference men’s tennis action, as the Pride took a 6-3 decision from Becker College on Friday night in Weston, Mass. The Pride wrap up the regular season at 12-6 overall and 9-1 in the NECC, while the Hawks drop to 5-9 overall and 5-5 in league play.

    Freshman Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) won a combined two matches, while dropping just one game to lead the Regis College (MA) men’s tennis team to a 9-0 victory over host Wheelock College this afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference action at the Winsor Courts in Boston, Massachusetts. The Pride improve to 4-5 and 2-0 in league play, while the Wildcats fall to 0-2, 0-1. It was the first-ever match between the two schools.

  • MEN'S TENNIS ANTICIPATES SUCCESS IN NECC

    Coach Ciarleglio expects the Regis men’s tennis team to compete mightily for the NECC crown this spring. The Pride begins its third intercollegiate season with last’s year roster intact, plus freshman, Mike Beluch, from St. John’s Prep, Danvers. The St. John’s Prep, Eagles were semi-finalists in the Mass State High School Championships last year and Beluch was an important part of his team’s success.

    For the past two months the Regis College men’s and women’s tennis teams have been spending time teaching autistic children the fundamentals of tennis. Head coach John Ciarleglio was pleased with the enthusiasm from both his players and the children at the Longfellow Tennis Club. “We were looking for an opportunity to work with kids that would hopefully take advantage of our love of tennis at the same time.” Participation in Richard Spurling’s ACEing Autism program allows the Regis tennis team an opportunity to have a positive impact in a child’s life.

    The Regis College men’s tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Assumption College in non-conference tennis action on Friday afternoon in Weston, Mass. The Pride drops to 2-2 this fall while Assumption picks up its first win of the season, improving to 1-4. Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) helped score both points for the Pride with his wins at number one singles while teaming with Michael Berdichevsky (Wayland, Mass.) for a victory at number one doubles.

With the setback, the Anchormen drop to 0-1 this season. Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) picked up a win at number one singles and teamed with Daniel Berdichevsky (Wayland, Mass.) to post another point at number one doubles in the win.
