REGIS DOWNS WILDCATS IN CONFERENCE MATCH

WESTON, Mass. – For the second time in four days, Regis College defeated Wheelock College, 9-0 in a New England Collegiate Conference men's tennis matchup. The Pride moves back to .500 at 6-6 overall and improves to 3-1 in the NECC, while Wheelock drops to 0-3 and 0-2 in league action.

In doubles play, Michael Beluch (Lynn, Mass.) and Sophorn Nop (Lowell, Mass.) defeated Bobby Venning (Greenfield, N.H.) and Claire O'Donoghue (East Haven, Conn.) 8-1 at the No. 1 doubles position. At the number two spot, Andy White (Bozeman, Mont.) and Jonathon Dost (Taunton, Mass.) combined to post an 8-0 victory over Moira McCarthy (Conway, N.H.) and Irene Gonzalez (Madrid, Spain). The Pride took a 3-0 lead into singles play as the Wildcats were forced to forfeit the final doubles matchup.

At the top singles spot, Beluch defeated Bobby Venning, 6-0, 6-0, while Jeff Parrish (Framingham, Mass.) took down O'Donoghue, 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 2 singles position. Sophorn Nop continued his strong day with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles. Jonathon Dost rounded out play with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles as the Wildcats forfeited the final two singles matches, giving Regis a 9-0 win.

The Pride returns to action on Monday afternoon as Regis makes up a rained-out match with Newbury College at 6:30 p.m. in Weston, Mass. Wheelock continues the search for its first win of the season when the Wildcats take on Lesley University on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
