MEN'S TENNIS ANTICIPATES SUCCESS IN NECC

Coach Ciarleglio expects the Regis men's tennis team to compete mightily for the NECC crown this spring.  The Pride begins its third intercollegiate season with last's year roster intact, plus freshman, Mike Beluch, from St. John's Prep, Danvers.    The St. John's Prep, Eagles were semi-finalists in the Mass State High School Championships last year and Beluch was an important part of his team's success.

"Having this kind of depth and experience is every coach's dream, stated Ciarleglio.  Our play during the team's fall season showed what we are capable of.  Berdichevsky and Beluch were monstrous at 1st doubles, while sophomore Co-Captain Andy White and junior Sophorn Nop were strong competitors at two dubs".  At 2nd doubles, White will likely be joined this spring by Jeff Parrish, his doubles partner in 2011.  Coach C. noted that these two had the best doubles and singles records in 2011 and he is looking forward to another successful year for this duo.
Junior Co-Captain Matt Smolko will be anchoring the balance of the lineup along with junior Mouhamed Diallo and sophomore Jonathan Dost.  "I am expecting a great season for Smolko and Nop, who may play some doubles together, but I also hope to see some very competitive singles play from them as well, offered the Pride coach.  Diallo and Dost both have excellent skills and are solid competitors.  We need them to play well if the Pride is to compete for a NECC conference championship".
On March 2nd, the Regis men's team will be traveling to Hilton Head, SC to kick off its 2012 season, with four matches against Div III college teams, Misericordia University, Wittenberg University, Emory & Henry College and Penn State Behrend College.
