WESTON, Mass. – Regis College women's basketball opened up conference play with a 100-72 victory on Saturday afternoon against Dean College at Higgins Court. This win is the sixth highest scoring game in women's program history, just one point under Regis vs Endicott on Dec. 5, 1998.
Courtney Doherty (Willimantic, Conn.) opened the match with a three-pointer on a pass from Bella George (Lynnfield, Mass.). Dean responded with a layup to close the deficit, however, George extended its lead with two consecutive layups. After a jumper from Jillian Perry (Melrose, Mass.) brought the Pride to nine points, Dean went on a 3-0 scoring run to tie the match. Regis concluded the first quarter with a 4-2 scoring run to lead 18-12 heading into the second.
Dean outscored Regis, 17-13, in the second quarter taking a two-point lead after a layup from Azaria Landry, however, five consecutive points from Doherty would provide offensive insurance to control the rest of the second quarter with the Pride on top.

Dean saw a majority of its points from the free-throw line shooting 12-for-14 at 85.7 percent.
Dean came within less than 10 points of the Pride after the start of the final quarter with two three-pointers from Landry. Layups from Zancan and Erika Marinelli (Point Pleasant, N.J.) increased the Pride lead, 71-59. Regis continued with a 9-4 run featuring layups from Maya Reynolds (Niagara Falls, N.Y.), Jordyn Striggles (Raynham, Mass.), and Doherty, while Striggles included a three-pointer followed by a jumper from Fatma Fatah (Bedford, N.H.), extending the lead by 20 at 88-68.
The Pride would score the remaining 12 points with layups from Fatah, and Perry followed by three-pointers from Striggles and Perry. Doherty would close out the match with two good free-throws to bring the Pride to triple digits, finishing with a final of 100-72.
