Regis' Season Comes to Close in GNAC Play-In

BOSTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's basketball season came to a close tonight in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play-in game, as the seventh-seeded Saints from Emmanuel College defeated the tenth-seeded Pride, 74-44, at the Jean Yawkey Center.

Madi Zancan (Cumberland, R.I.) led the Pride with a double-double, recording 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Courtney Doherty (Willimantic, Conn.) scored a team-high 14 points in the effort.

On the other side, Kaitlyn Bartash posted an 11-point, 13-rebound double-double, and Desiree Robinson contributed 10 points in the Saints' victory.

The Saints limited the Pride to just 30% shooting in the opening quarter, doubling up Regis, 18-9 after the first 10 minutes.

At the four-minute mark of the second quarter, Erika Marinelli (Point Pleasant, N.J.) connected on a three to end the Pride's scoring drought, sparking an 8-2 run that cut the deficit to 29-17. She followed with another three-pointer with 37 seconds remaining, trimming the Saints' lead to 33-22 at the half.

In the third quarter, the Saints held the Pride to just six points, extending their lead to 51-28 heading into the final 10 minutes.

Doherty led the Pride to their best quarter, scoring eight of her squad's 16 fourth quarter points, before Regis ultimately fell 74-44 to the Saints.

The Pride finished their 2024-25 campaign with a 6-19 overall record and a 5-10 mark in GNAC play.
