Pam Gonzalez Voted NEWBA All-Region Third Team

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Senior Pam Gonzalez (Revere, Mass.) continues to add to her award collection as she has been selected All-Region Third Team by the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA), announced Tuesday, March 7, by the coaches' organization.

Gonzalez, a four-time NEWBA weekly honor roll selection during the 2022-23 season, averaged 16.2 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 3.5 steals per game. She became the 18th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark in her collegiate career, including the eighth student-athlete to achieve the milestone within three competition seasons.

On Nov. 16 at Wheaton, Gonzalez scored a career-high 36 points, tied for the second-highest single-game point total in Regis basketball history. She ended the season 10th on the Regis career scoring list with 1,119 career points as well as fourth in career made three-pointers with 122, sixth in career scoring average at 15.54 points per game, and seventh in career steals with 202.

Earning First Team All-GNAC recognition for the second straight season, Gonzalez is currently 17th in Division III in steals per game and 20th in total steals with 85, eighth on the Regis single-season steals list. She pulled down a career-high 22 rebounds against Rivier Feb. 21, tied for sixth on the Pride single-game rebounding list and the most by a Regis player in over five years.

Gonzalez is one of two GNAC players on one of the NEWBA All-Region teams along with Lyric Grumblatt of Rivier, who joins Gonzalez on the NEWBA All-Region Third Team. In addition, Elisabeth Stapelfeld of Saint Joseph's College was voted NEWBA Rookie of the Year as she helped the Monks win the GNAC championship.

For the third consecutive season, Regis hosted a GNAC Tournament quarterfinal game as it finished 12-6 in the league, the team's most conference victories since 2017-18. The Pride put together a seven-game winning streak Jan. 14 through Feb. 2, including four consecutive road wins.

Regis College sponsors 20 intercollegiate sports, including women's basketball, within NCAA Division III as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
