Pam Gonzalez Receives Weekly Honors from GNAC, NEWBA

WINTHROP, Mass. – After extending her double-digit scoring streak to nine games over the past week, senior Pam Gonzalez (Revere, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week, announced Monday, Jan. 16, by the league office.

In addition, for the second straight week and third time this season, Gonzalez has been named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Weekly Second Team.

In two games last week, Gonzalez averaged 17.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 4.5 steals per game. She shot 44.8 percent (13-for-29) from the field, including 40 percent (4-for-10) from behind the three-point line as the Pride battled Emmanuel Wednesday before cruising to victory over Dean Saturday.

Against the Saints, she scored 21 of her game-high 23 points in the second half, including 12 points in the third quarter to lead the Pride to a four-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. She also pulled down 15 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season, currently tied for second-most in the league, plus she collected three assists and four steals.

Saturday, Gonzalez played only 13 minutes but still finished with 12 points, four rebounds, two assists, and five steals as the Pride accumulated 92 points, the team's highest offensive output since a 92-49 victory over Elms in the championship game of the 2017 NECC Tournament.

Heading into Tuesday's game at Lasell, Gonzalez was averaging 16.8 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 4.2 steals per game. She leads the GNAC and is seventh in Division III in steals per game, plus she is fifth in the league in rebounding and sixth in scoring. Earlier this season, she became the fifth player in program history with at least 100 made three-pointers and currently sits in fourth place on the Pride's all-time made three-pointer list with 112.

This is Gonzalez's second career GNAC Player of the Week award after previously receiving the honor Jan. 31, 2022. During the 2019-20 season, she was named GNAC Rookie of the Week seven times on her way to GNAC Rookie of the Year recognition, plus she is a two-time All-GNAC selection.

Regis College (5-9, 5-3 GNAC), currently in third place in the GNAC South Division but behind second place USJ by just a half-game, continues a stretch of four consecutive road games Thursday, Jan. 19, at University of Saint Joseph starting at 5 p.m.
