WINTHROP, Mass. – Junior Pam Gonzalez (Revere, Mass.) has been voted First Team All-GNAC by the women's basketball coaches of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference as the postseason awards were announced by the league office Monday, Feb. 28.
Gonzalez finished the 2021-22 season by averaging 17.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 2.3 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game. She is fourth in the GNAC in scoring average, fifth in three-point field goal percentage at 38.5 percent, sixth in both field goal percentage at 46.5 percent and rebounding average, and seventh in steals per game.
Appearing in all 22 games for the Pride this season, including 19 starts, she notched 10 double-doubles and reached double figures in scoring 18 total times, featuring eight games with 20 or more points. On Feb. 9 at Albertus Magnus, she became the first Pride player in four years to score 30 points in a single game, shooting 11-for-20 from the field, including four three-pointers.
Gonzalez was also named to the GNAC All-Tournament Team this past weekend after averaging 21.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.5 steals per game to help the Pride advance to the semifinals of the conference tournament. She is now a two-time GNAC All-Tournament selection as well as a two-time All-GNAC honoree, as she was voted GNAC Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-GNAC after the 2019-20 season.
Senior Marissa Prall (Hopkinton, Mass.) was selected to represent Regis on the GNAC Women's Basketball All-Sportsmanship Team for the second time in her career. Even though a season-ending injury limited her to nine games this year, she remained heavily involved during the season as she showed interest in coaching, something she will continue to pursue as she participates in the WBCA "So You Want To Be A Coach" program March 31 and April 1 in Minneapolis.
Gonzalez becomes the first Regis player to be voted First Team All-GNAC since Brittany Stone after the 2017-18 campaign. Prall was previously selected to represent the Pride on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team after her first year of 2018-19.
Lyric Grumblatt of Rivier University received both Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors, while GNAC champion Emmanuel College was represented by Defensive Player of the Year Loredana D'Agostino and Coach of the Year Andy Yosinoff. Colby-Sawyer College collected the Team Sportsmanship Award.
Regis College concluded the 2021-22 season with a 13-9 overall record, including an 11-3 league mark to finish fourth in the final regular season conference standings.
