Pam Gonzalez Named GNAC WBB Player of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – After a stellar week in leading the Regis College women's basketball team to consecutive victories, junior Pam Gonzalez (Revere, Mass.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week, announced Monday, Jan. 31, by the league office.

In addition, Gonzalez was named to the weekly honor roll by the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Tuesday morning, Feb. 1. 

In three games last week, Gonzalez averaged 22.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 3.3 steals per game while shooting 49 percent (25-for-51) from the field, including 55 percent (11-for-20) from behind the three-point line. Last Monday night at GNAC-leading Emmanuel, she played all 40 minutes, notching her seventh double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four steals and two blocks.

In Wednesday's victory at Lasell, Gonzalez hit six three-pointers in the first half on the way to her 15th career double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds. She wrapped up the week Friday with 28 points on 11-for-20 field goal shooting, nine rebounds, three assists, and four steals in Regis's victory over USJ.

Gonzalez is currently in the top 10 in the GNAC in scoring (6th - 15.8 ppg), field goal percentage (7th - 46.6%), three-point field goal percentage (5th - 38.1%), rebounding (6th - 9.1 rpg), and blocked shots (T8th - 0.9 bpg). She has reached double figures in scoring 10 times and in rebounding nine times so far this season.

This is the first GNAC Player of the Week award for Gonzalez in her career. She was named GNAC Rookie of the Week seven times during the 2019-20 season on her way to GNAC Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-GNAC accolades.

The Regis College women's basketball team is currently in fourth place in the GNAC regular season standings with a 6-2 league record for a .750 winning percentage.
