Arie Searcy Named to NEWBA, GNAC Weekly Honor Rolls

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – After playing a significant role in victories by the Regis College women's basketball team over Anna Maria and Elms last week, senior Arie Searcy (Santa Rosa, Calif.) was named to the weekly honor roll for both the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) and the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).

Searcy averaged 14.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.5 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game as the Pride defeated Anna Maria last Thursday, Jan. 20, and Elms this past Saturday, Jan. 22, both on the road. She hit all eight free throws she attempted in the two games.

She played 37 minutes against the AMCATS, notching her third double-double of the season with 15 points and a career-high 16 rebounds, plus she also dished out a collegiate-best six assists. Searcy hit her second career three-pointer to beat the first quarter buzzer and give the Pride their largest lead of the night at 25-9.

Saturday against Elms, Searcy finished with 14 points and eight rebounds as the Pride won every quarter over the Blazers, pulling away for a 22-point victory to sweep the season series.

After Monday night's game at Emmanuel, Searcy is averaging 9.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.9 steals, and 2.0 blocks per game. She leads the GNAC and is in the top 50 in Division III in blocks per game, plus she has moved into sixth place on the Regis career blocks list with 65 career rejections.

Regis College heads to Lasell University to face the Lasers Wednesday, Jan. 26, for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff, followed by a home game against University of Saint Joseph Saturday, Jan. 29, scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
