WINTHROP, Mass. – Regis College's Pam Gonzalez has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Gonzalez averaged 14.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals as Regis won both of their GNAC contests last week, both as the visiting team. On Wednesday, she reached 20 points for the third time this season, along with nine rebounds, four assists and two steals. Gonzalez scored 14 points in the second half against Johnson & Wales, including seven points in the fourth quarter.
On Saturday, Gonzalez finished with eight points, seven rebounds, a season-high six assists and three steals as the Pride defeated Rivier. The four-time GNAC Rookie of the Week turned it over just three times in 61 minutes of action.
Gonzalez currently is tied for third in the conference and is 60th in Division III in steals per game. She leads the team in scoring with 13.2 points and rebounding with 7.6 per game. Gonzalez has now hit double figures in nine games this season, including six of the Pride's last eight.
Regis (8-8, 2-1 GNAC) will visit Rhode Island College for a non-conference contest on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. The Pride will then play Emmanuel on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. to kick off a slate of four consecutive GNAC games at Higgins Court.
