MARRO NETS CAREER-HIGH 29 POINTS IN PRIDE WIN

WATERVILLE, Maine - Junior guard Emilee Marro (Bedford, N.H.) finished with a game and career-high 29 points, nine rebounds, six steals, and five assists as Regis College shot 51 percent from the field en route to a 75-62 non-conference women's basketball win over Colby College on Tuesday night.

The win marked the first of the season for the Pride, who improve to 1-2 on the year, while the Mules fell to 3-3 overall.

Marro was 9-for-16 from the field, 4-for-9 from 3-point range, and shot a perfect 7-for-7 from the foul line.

Desi Smith (Watertown, Wis.) hit a 3-point shot for the opening points of the game, but Regis quickly took control with a 9-0 scoring run. Marro had 14 points in the opening half to help Regis to a 38-21 margin at one point. However, Colby scored the final five points of the half to make it 38-26 at the break.

Regis went on a 12-2 scoring run to start the second half to pull away. The largest lead was 26 points at 56-30 with 15:08 to play. The Mules got as close as 12 points with 1:05 left in the game.

Regis shot 60 percent from the field in the second half and were 50.9 percent (27-for-53) for the game.

Freshman forward Amanda Hawkesworth (Abington, Mass.) had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four assists for the Pride. Junior guard Janaya Bradley (New Haven, Conn.) was 3-for-6 from 3-point range on the way to 17 points, while senior forward Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine) added 12 points, three assists, and two blocks for Regis.

Smith led Colby with 15 points, six rebounds, and a pair of assists. Mia Diplock (Augusta, Maine) was 5-for-8 from the field for 14 points and had five boards and four assists. Carylanne Wolfington (Hallowell, Maine) also had 14 points for the Mules.

The Pride will open up New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play when they host Lesley at 6 p.m. next Tuesday, Dec. 3.
