MARRO, PRIDE CLIP HAWKS, 77-37

LEICESTER, Mass. – Sophomore guard Emilee Marro (Bedford, N.H.) posted 17 points, five rebounds and five assists to lead visiting Regis College to a 77-37 win over host Becker College in New England Collegiate College (NECC) women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Leicester Gym. The Pride are now 8-4 overall and 5-0 in the conference standings, while the Hawks fall to 3-8 overall, 2-3 against NECC rivals.

The Pride jumped on the host Hawks right from the opening tip, leaping out to a 20-2 lead in the first seven minutes of the game, with Marro leading the way with six points and three assists. Becker's first field goal did not come until junior forward Tatiana Mojica (Worcester, Mass.) hit a short jumper with 12:15 remaining in the first half.

Regis led by as much as 23 after Marro hit a three-pointer with 2:11 left in the period, and the teams went into halftime with the Pride leading 43-20. Regis outshot Becker in the opening half, 54.1 percent to 28.6 percent. Marro had 13 points in the first stanza to lead the Pride, while Mojica has 12 for the Hawks.

In the second period, Regis continued to use their speed and defense to set the pace of the game, and Becker was never able to challenge.

Regis sophomore guard Janaya Bradley (New Haven, Conn.) drove inside time and again, finishing with 16 points, shooting eight-of-twelve from the floor. Senior guard Sabree Rodriguez (Brockton, Mass.) added ten points and seven rebounds. Junior forward Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine) pulled down a game-high eight rebounds to go along with six points and five steals. Freshman guard Taylor Bunkley (Carmel, N.Y.) came off the bench to contribute ten points and four rebounds.

For the Hawks, Mojica finished with 15 points and six rebounds. Junior guard Haley Ooms (Valatie, N.Y.) contributed 12 points with four rebounds. Freshman forward Gabrielle Gallo (Northport, N.Y.) pulled down six rebounds off the bench.

The Pride will travel to Daniel Webster on Tuesday, with tip-off coming at 7:30 p.m.
