PRIDE DEFEAT CLARKSON, 56-44 IN CONSOLATION GAME

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Regis College women's basketball team outlasted Clarkson, 56-44, in the consolation game of the 2012 Bowdoin Holiday Invitational on Sunday at Morrell Gymnasium. The Pride improve to 4-3 with the win while Clarkson drops to 2-6 on the season.

Emilee Marro (Bedford, N.H.) scored a game-high 14 points to lead Regis while Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine) added 10 points and seven rebounds. Ashley Loggins (Albany, N.Y.) paced Clarkson with 12 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

Ramonas and Loggins were both named as All-Tournament Team selections.

The Golden Knights stayed within striking distance in the first 17 minutes of play, but the Pride used a key 8-0 run heading into halftime and extended its lead to 35-20 on a driving lay-in by Janaya Bradley (New Haven, Conn.) that beat the first half buzzer.

The Pride pushed their advantage to as many as 25 points in the second half before Clarkson chipped away, closing the final margin to a dozen points.

The Golden Knights held a 43-39 edge in rebounding, but committed 23 turnovers, directly resulting in 20 points for the Pride that proved to be the difference.

The Pride will look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday, January 2 as the team travels for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference matchup at Western Connecticut State.
