RAMONAS' 21 POINTS NOT ENOUGH AS PRIDE FALLS 56-52 TO MULES

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Rachael Mack (Augusta, Maine) had 16 points, six rebounds, and five assists to help the Colby College women's basketball team hang on for a 56-52 win over Regis College in non-conference play Tuesday night at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

The Mules move to 13-3 overall, while Regis falls to 12-4 on the season and 9-0 in NECC play.

The Pride, despite giving up a large height advantage on the forward line, had a 30-28 rebound margin and shot 17-for-18 from the foul line to give Colby fits most of the night.

Mack was 7-for-10 from the field and also blocked two shots for Colby. Diana Manduca (Portland, Maine) added 11 points, four assists, and four steals for the winners. Jil Vaughan (Wareham, Mass.) finished with nine points, five rebounds, and three blocks.

Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine) led all scorers with 21 points on 8-for-15 shooting. She also had five rebounds, three steals, and two blocks. She had 15 of the Pride's points in the first half when Colby took a 30-28 margin into intermission.

Emilee Marro (Bedford, N.H.) had 13 points on 5-for-8 shooting, Stephanie Crawford (Rockland, Mass.) had nine points, and Sabree Rodriguez (Brockton, Mass.) had a game-high nine rebounds.

The game was close the entire second half, with Colby holding a 54-48 margin after Manduca nailed a 3-point shot with 4:15 to play. Regis, though, went 4-for-4 from the foul line in a span of 29 seconds (2:33 to 2:04) to cut the margin to 54-52. The game stayed that way and the Pride had a chance to tie the game, but Regis was called for a travel with seven seconds left. Jayde Bennett (Lynn, Mass.) hit two free throws with five seconds left to clinch the win.

The Pride will return to conference action Thursday night when they travel to Cambridge, Massachusetts to take on the Lesley University at 8:00 p.m.
