PRIDE'S PACE TO MUCH FOR MOUNTAINEERS AS REGIS ROLLS TO VICTORY 81-48

Bennington, VT – The Regis College women's basketball team remained unbeaten in New England Collegiate Conference play as the Pride swept past the Southern Vermont Mountaineers by a score of 81-48, Thursday evening.  With the win, Regis improves to 11-3 on the season and 8-0 in the NECC.  Southern Vermont drops to 4-10 on the season and 3-4 in NECC action. 

The Pride's offense kept the Mountaineers on their toes throughout the 40 minutes of play. Regis was led by the keen shooting of Claire Ramonas (Portland, Maine.) and Emilee Marro (Bedford, N.H.). Ramonas finished the game with 15 points and six boards, while Marro matched Ramonas's offensive production by tallying 15 points on the game.

Southern Vermont trailed Regis 18-12 with 12:15 to go in the first half after a three pointer by the Mountaineer's Joa Clarcius, but Regis would go on a 13-3 run to extend the lead to 16.  The teams would trade baskets until Emilee Marro drilled a three pointer as the clock expired to end the first half and put the Pride up 38-23.

The Pride continued to test the Mountaineer defense in the second half. Three Regis players would tally double digits in scoring during the game. Stefanie Wozmak (Auburn, N.H.) and Janaya Bradley (New Haven, Conn.) racked up 13 points, while Sabree Rodriguez (Brockton, Mass.) chipped in with 12.  

The Mountaineers Joa Clarcius finished on a high note tallying 16 points, while Ashliy Veliz netted a respective 15 points.

The Crimson and Gold will return to action Saturday, as they host Mitchell College at 3:00 p.m. for a NECC conference game.  Southern Vermont will look to get back on the winning track when they travel to Boston, Massachusetts to take on Wheelock College at 3:00 p.m.
