MIDDLETOWN, CONN. The Regis College Women's Track and Field team opened their outdoor season today at the J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic, hosted by Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.
Aubrey Heise (Mattapoisett, Mass.) shone in the season opener, taking first place in the 800m with a new program record of 2:24.79, which bested the previous record of 2:27.29 by 2.50 seconds. She also finished 16th overall in the 200m with a time of 28.03, claiming the top spot in her heat.
Janet Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) and Aleyo Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) both earned top-ten finishes and personal bests in the women's long jump, placing fourth and sixth, respectively. Janet's jump of 5.17 meters earned her the top spot in her heat and fourth overall, while Aleyo jumped 5.10 meters. Aleyo also captured top-ten finishes in the 400m (1:02.53, 3rd) and the 200m (27.39, 7th).
Janet and Aleyo teamed up with Olivia Dench (Center Moriches, N.Y.) and Abby Kilbride (Peabody, Mass.) in the 4x100 meter relay, where the team finished with a time of 52.59.
New Hampshire natives Grace Micklon (Salem, N.H.) and Emily Aho (Pelham, N.H.) rounded out the field events, securing tenth place in the high jump with a mark of 1.33m and in the triple jump with a distance of 9.59m, respectively.
The Pride are back on the track a week from today when they head to Medford, Massachusetts for the Tufts Snowflake Classic with events starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 29th.
