Women's Indoor Track Opens Season at Wesleyan Invitational

MIDDLETOWN, CONN. – The Regis Women's Indoor Track and Field team competed in their first meet of the season at the Wesleyan Indoor Invitational on Saturday at the Bacon Field House.

Aleyo Amasa-Titus (Georgetown, Mass.) started the season with a sixth place finish in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.39, while clinching third place in the women's 200 meter dash finishing at 27.10. Olivia Dench (Center Moriches, N.Y.) compiled a time of 29.65, followed by Christie Derival (East Bridgewater, Mass.) at 30.63.

Aubrey Heise (Mattapoisett, Mass.) competed in the 600 meter dash with a final of 1:45.87 to place third while Olivia Mmamelu (Waltham, Mass.) and Kim Avalo (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished in eighth and ninth place. Mmamelu and Avalo also ran the women's mile to finish in the top ten.

Jonnie Charest (Methuen, Mass.) placed fourth overall in the women's 3000 meter at 13:00.39 while Abby Kilbride (Peabody, Mass.) placed sixth at 14:22.84. Colleen Curran (Woburn, Mass.) finished the 60 hurdles at 10.77 and marked 4.46 meters in the long jump. Aho finished in fourth for the women's triple jump with a mark of 9.52 meters followed by Grace Micklon (Salem, N.H.) at 8.66 meters. Micklon also made a mark of 1.40 meters in the women's high jump.

The Regis College track and field team will now prepare for the Suffolk Ice Breaker at The Track and New Balance in Boston, on Jan. 11, starting at 10:00 a.m.
