Women’s Lacrosse Loses Season Opener

SALEM, Mass. – In its opening match of the 2022 season, Regis College lost to Salem State, 20-4, Saturday in a non-conference women's collegiate lacrosse match at Alumni Field.

Kylee Marley (Westerly, R.I.) led the Pride with two goals and nine ground balls, plus she caused three turnovers. Mia Rogers (Revere, Mass.) paced the team defensively with four caused turnovers, and Madeline Conover (West Newbury, Mass.) earned five saves in net for Regis.

Salem State (1-1) scored the first two goals of the match to take a lead it would not relinquish. Madelynn Plourde tallied three goals in the first period as she finished with four goals and two assists in the match, while Mackenzie Schmink led the Vikings with five goals and 10 ground balls.

Taylor Sujko contributed to the winning effort on both sides of the field, ending up with three goals, five assists, four ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Sydney Franz earned the victory in net for the Vikings, collecting eight saves for a .667 save percentage in the contest.

Regis College (0-1) plays its first home match of the season Tuesday, March 8, against Drew University starting at 4 p.m. at Regis Stadium.
