WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College Women's Lacrosse team hosted the Johnson and Wales University Wildcats at Regis Stadium for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup, where the Wildcats secured a 14-7 victory over the Pride. The loss brings the Pride to a 4-7 overall record and 2-4 in GNAC play.
Molly Higgins (Weymouth, Mass.) led the Pride with three goals and three caused turnovers, while Serenity Ayala (North Brookfield, N.H.) contributed two goals, an assist, and three caused turnovers. In goal, Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) made 10 saves.
For the Wildcats, Madeline Gould and Neely Corner each tallied four goals and three assists, while Corner also recorded a game-high five caused turnovers. Emma Gyman made five saves to secure the win.
How it Happened:
- Higgins put the Pride on the board first, converting a pass from Sainato during a man-up opportunity. However, the Wildcats responded quickly, as No. 8 netted a pair of goals to give Johnson and Wales a 2-1 lead just three and a half minutes into play. Ayala added the Pride's second goal at the 6:39 mark, but the Wildcats closed the quarter with three more tallies, taking a 7-2 lead after one.
- Higgins opened the second quarter with her second goal of the game before Kozinski found Higgins for another, bringing the Pride within three with 12:05 left in the half. The Wildcats, however, answered with two more goals to hold a 9-4 advantage at the break.
- Higgins secured her hat trick at the 10:11 mark of the third, but the Wildcats extended their lead with four more goals, making it 13-5 heading into the final frame.
- In the fourth quarter, Retta Hattin and Ayala each found the back of the net for the Pride, but the Wildcats maintained control to secure a 14-7 victory at Regis Stadium.
