Regis Edges Thomas in 10-9 Thriller at Home

WESTON, Mass. – Regis women's lacrosse secured a hard-fought 10-9 victory over Thomas College in a non-conference matchup Wednesday night at Regis Stadium.

Audrey Mason (West Springfield, Mass.) led the Pride with five goals, while Serenity Ayala (North Brookfield, Mass.) added two goals and an assist. Teal Galligan (Acushnet, Mass.), Molly Higgins (Weymouth, Mass.), and Maddie Sainato (Wilmington, Mass.) each contributed a goal, while Vanessa Kozinski (Merrimack, N.H.) registered her first assist of the season.

In net, Allayna Martone (Elkridge, Md.) recorded one save in the first half, while Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) tallied two saves in the second half.

Thomas was led by Mary Larochelle, who finished with four goals and an assist. Isabella Pelletier added three goals, while Emily Wallingford found the back of the net once for the Terriers.

How It Happened:

  • The Terriers struck first, but Regis responded with three unanswered goals, including a man-up goal from Ayala, to take a 3-1 lead into the second quarter.
  • Thomas outscored Regis 2-1 in the second, with a man-up goal from Pelletier, but the Pride defense held strong to maintain a 4-3 lead at halftime.
  • Sainato opened the second half with a goal for Regis, but Thomas answered with two quick goals in a 14-second span to tie the game at five. Mason then netted back-to-back goals, completing her hat trick and putting the Pride ahead 7-6 heading into the final quarter.
  • Higgins opened the fourth with a goal in the first minute before Ayala broke through the defense to extend the lead. Larochelle responded to keep the Terriers within two at 9-7.
  • After another goal from Mason, Thomas rallied with two late goals to cut the deficit to 10-9. Despite a strong push in the final minutes, the Terriers were unable to net the equalizer, sealing the victory for the Pride.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Kozinski registered her first assist of the season.
  • Mason recorded her third hat trick of the season, finishing with five goals.
  • Higgins led the defensive effort with four caused turnovers and five ground balls, while nine other players collected at least two ground balls.
