• PRIDE PLACE THREE ON ALL-NECC TEAM

    Three members of the Regis College softball team have been named to the New England Collegiate Conference’s All-NECC Team, it was announced on Monday afternoon by the league offices. Shortstop Samantha Bliss (Framingham, Mass.) and pitcher/designated player Sarah Porteus (South Wellfleet, Mass.) were named to the league’s Second Team, while first baseman Jill Bruning (Medford, Mass.) was named an Honorable Mention selection.

    No. 3 Daniel Webster College overcame a 10-5 deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning and trailing by two runs to defeat No. 6 Regis College, 11-10, in the New England Collegiate Conference Softball Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Eagle Field. Regis wraps up its season at 8-24 overall.

    The Regis College softball team has been named the No. 6 seed in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference playoffs, it was announced by the league offices on Sunday night. The Pride finished the season at 8-23 overall and 8-10 in the NECC and will travel to No. 3 seed Daniel Webster on Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. for a first round matchup.

    Regis College dropped a pair of New England Collegiate Conference softball games to Elms College on Saturday afternoon in Chicopee, Mass. With the sweep, Elms improves to 14-17 overall, 10-8 in NECC action while Regis moves to 8-23 overall, 8-10 in league play. The teams will now await the tournament pairings that will be announced by the conference office later this weekend.

The Pride improves to 8-21 overall and 8-8 in the NECC, while Wheelock falls to 0-23 and 0-16 in league action. Emily Pickett (Wrentham, Mass.) picked up a pair of wins and Regis pounded out 28 hits in both games as part of the wins.

Regis improves to 5-15 overall and 5-6 in the NECC with the split, while Southern Vermont moves to 4-25 overall and 1-10 in the NECC.

The Pride improves to 3-12 overall and evens its record to 3-3 in the NECC, while Bay Path drops to 5-22 overall and 0-6 in league games.

The Pride drops to 0-7 on the young season, while Mount Ida improves to 7-11. Jasmyne Welch (Wells, Maine) homered in a 2-for-3 effort in game two for the Pride.

    The Regis College softball and field hockey teams volunteered their time and helped out at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society located in Natick a few weeks ago. The Pride teams helped out around the offices and helped complete projects.
