BLISS BLASTS PRIDE PAST NIGHTHAWKS FOR BACK-TO-BACK WINS, (6-4, 15-2)

WESTON, Mass.-The Regis College softball team won both games in a double-header match-up against NECC opponent Newbury College Sunday afternoon. The Pride took the first game 6-4 and went on to take the second game 15-2. The victories move the Pride's record to 5-14 overall on the season and 5-5 in NECC play.

In the first game the Pride was led by Samatha Bliss (Framingham, Mass.) who had a team high in RBI'S with three, while Jasmyne Welch (Wells, Maine.) chipped in with a single RBI. Bliss tallied a team high in runs by notching two.  One of the runs came off a solo shot to deep left field that helped put the Pride up by three.

Emily Pickett (Wrentham, Mass.) started on the mound for the Pride and struck out three Nighthawk batters to give Regis the first victory of the day.

In the second game the Pride received a solid performance from Bliss, Cassie Langone (Chichester, N.H.), and Kelsey Heath (Lowell, Mass.) who all notched two RBI'S apiece in the victory. Nine Regis players tallied runs in the game and were just two players shy of making it a complete team effort.

Kara Donovan (Woburn, Mass.) and Sarah Porteus (Wellfleet, Mass.) led Regis in hits on the game combining for six.

Porteus started on the mound for the Pride and struck out four Newbury batters to take the win. Porteus only committed one error on the game.

The Pride's next matchup is Wednesday when the Pride host NECC opponent Southern Vermont College in a double-header starting at 5:00 p.m.
