Harvey and Kelley Earn GNAC Weekly Awards

WINTHROP, Mass. - Jamir Harvey (Robbins, Ill.) has been recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) as the Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week while Ashleigh Kelley (Stoneham, Mass.) earns yet another Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week award announced by the league office on Monday afternoon, Nov. 14.

Harvey made an impact in both Regis victories during the opening week of the 2022-23 season. Tuesday night against Fitchburg State, he contributed seven points, seven rebounds, two steals, and three blocked shots as the Pride rallied to defeat the Falcons.

Saturday against Hunter College, he shot 13-for-17 from the field to lead all players with 28 points, plus he pulled down 11 rebounds for his first career double-double. He also earned four steals, two assists, and two blocked shots to help Regis earn its highest scoring (104 points) and rebounding (70 boards) totals in a single game in program history.

Harvey and the Regis men's basketball team continue their season with a road matchup against Rhode Island College on Saturday, Nov. 19, starting at 3:00 p.m. before returning home on Tuesday, Nov. 22, to take on Framingham State at 7:00 p.m.

Kelley collects her sixth GNAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week award, one more than her previous season where she earned the honor five times. Kelley's All-Region performance in the NCAA Division III East Region Cross Country Championships helped the Regis College women's cross country team finish in 18th place.

Kelley posted a collegiate-best six-kilometer time of 23:08.2 to finish in 21st place, 10 places higher than her performance at last year's regional meet. Her time was 54 seconds faster than the previous program-best time on the Pickard Field course established by Maggie Mann at the 2018 regional meet as well as 36 seconds quicker than her previous top 6K time established at the 2021 Elms Blazer Classic.

Kelley will continue her collegiate career as a member of the Regis women's indoor track and field team which will first participate in the Suffolk Relays on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury, Mass.
