Regis Defeats Worcester State, 74-63

WORCESTER, Mass. -  In a close contest, Regis College earned a 74-63 victory over Worcester State University in a non-conference game, Thursday night at Brissette Court.

Russell Rau (Fitchburg, Mass.) led the Pride with 17 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Ned Fitzpatrick (Providence, R.I.) trailed with 15 points and four rebounds while shooting 3-for-5 from the three-point line. Jamir Harvey (Robbins, Ill.) finished with a double-double collecting 14 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.

The lead went back-and-forth for the first several minutes of the game with Regis pulling ahead 9-6 after a layup from Tate Pike (Bellingham, Mass.). Starting with a three-pointer from Harvey, the Pride put together a 10-8 scoring run to finish the first half leading 39-27 at halftime.

The Lancers opened the second half with a 5-5 scoring run to close its deficit to 16 points at 48-32, but Regis would hold the lead for the remainder of the game, despite three-pointers from Junior Efosa and Samuel Batista. The Lancers would score the final six points of the game but were unable to surpass the Pride, finishing with a final of 74-63.

As a team, the Pride shot 46.2 percent (30-for-65) from the field and 71.4 percent (5-for-7) from the free throw line.

Regis College (3-1) is scheduled to travel to Brandeis University on Saturday, Nov. 23, starting at 2:00 p.m. Worcester State is set to travel to Emerson on Saturday, Nov. 23, for a 1:00 p.m. start.
