Pride Women’s Lacrosse Represented in GNAC Postseason Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. - Led by graduate student Hope Alto (Boston, Mass.), four members of the Regis College women's lacrosse team were recognized among the postseason honors announced by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tuesday, May 7.

In voting by the 16 conference coaches, Alto was selected a Second Team All-GNAC attacker after leading the conference with a school-record 165 draw controls and pacing the Pride with 60 goals, seventh-most in a single-season in program history. Heading into the NCAA Division III Tournament, Alto is seventh in the country in draw controls per match at 9.71, including nine matches with 10 or more draw controls, plus she notched 10 hat tricks this season, tying the Regis single-match record with eight goals at UMass Dartmouth March 9.

Molly Higgins (Weymouth, Mass.) received Third Team All-GNAC recognition as a defender after finishing tied for second on the team with 20 caused turnovers. She also contributed to the team's success offensively with 12 goals and two assists for 14 total points in 14 matches, highlighted by her first career hat trick with three goals along with three groundballs, three draw controls, and two caused turnovers in the Pride's 14-11 victory over Dean April 20.

Audrey Mason (West Springfield, Mass.) joins Higgins on the GNAC All-Rookie Team after contributing 26 goals and 13 assists for 39 total points, third on the squad in all three categories. She led the Pride with 47 groundballs and 23 caused turnovers, plus she was second on the team with 39 draw controls as Regis is currently second in the country in draw control percentage at .685. A two-time GNAC Rookie of the Week, Mason notched five hat tricks, including matches with four goals and one assist at Lasell April 9 and against Saint Joseph's College April 16.

Maddey Strickland (Hopkinton, Mass.) was selected to the GNAC Women's Lacrosse All-Sportsmanship Team as she started all 17 matches for the Pride this season and finished with four goals and a team-high 16 assists for 20 total points. She tied the Regis single-match assists record with five helpers in the April 20 victory over Dean, plus she earned one goal and three assists in consecutive victories over Mitchell March 20 and at Albertus Magnus March 23.

The Regis women's lacrosse team completed the 2024 campaign with a 9-8 overall record, the most victories for the team since the 2019 season. Head coach Courtney Duggan earned her 100th career coaching win against Elms April 6 as the team eventually finished third in the GNAC South Division with a 5-2 divisional record and qualified for the GNAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament.

Regis College is a Division III member of the NCAA competing within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference in 19 intercollegiate sports.
