WESTON, Mass. –Regis College women's lacrosse kicked off their 2025 season at home this afternoon, hosting the Leopards of Wentworth Institute of Technology (WIT). Molly Higgins (Weymouth, Mass.) led the Pride with four goals, helping Regis secure an 8-6 victory over the Leopards. The win brings the Pride's record to 1-0 on the young season, while the Leopards fall to 1-1.
In addition to her four goals, Higgins also tallied four caused turnovers and three draw controls while Audrey Mason (West Springfield, Mass.) tallied a goal and three assists in the victory. Defensively, Vanessa Kozinski (Merrimack, N.H.) caused a game-high five turnovers, while Allayna Martone (Elkridge, Md.) made eight saves in goal to secure the win.
For Wentworth, Shayleah Gunning-Lavoie and Grace Sweet each netted two goals. Gunning-Lavoie also added two assists and grabbed four draw controls in the effort.
How it Happened:
- After an early goal from Wentworth, Reese Hattin (Hooksett, N.H.) set up two of her Regis' teammates to give the Pride a 2-1 lead with 4:41 remaining in the first quarter. Wentworth responded with a free position goal in the final 30 seconds, tying the game at 2-2.
- Both teams added two goals apiece in the second quarter, including a late goal from Higgins in the final 22 seconds to send the game into halftime tied at 4-4.
- Coming out of the break, Wentworth scored first, but Regis had an answer quickly as three different players recorded a goal in a four minute span to give the Pride a 7-5 lead with 7:13 remaining in the third quarter.
- Gunning-Lavoie brought Wentworth within one goal, but four saves from Martone and Higgins' fourth goal in the final quarter secured an 8-6 victory for the Pride.

- First-year players Teal Galligan (Acushnet, Mass.) and Maddie Sainato (Wilmington, Mass.) scored their first collegiate goals in their debuts for the red and gold.
